What’s the best new car you can buy? Well that depends on your needs, doesn’t it?
And two separate auto awards could help you make your decision, as they’ve handed out gongs to vehicles in a range of categories not necessarily associated with their size alone.
So instead of the best supermini, or the best medium-size hatchback, as is often the case, here are the award winners deemed the champion choice for families, long-distance cruising, and the most capable towers, among other categories.
And the winner is. Find out which cars were voted the best at pulling heavy loads, ferrying families and coping with long-distance cruises
The first of the two motoring awards was hosted by used-car sales website Auto Trader on Wednesday evening.
Instead of asking road testers to make the decision, it surveyed 10,000 owners of vehicles that are less than three years old and still on sale today.
After analysing more than 160,000 data points for reliability, performance, appearance, features and running costs, the winners were selected in 10 different categories – including the overall best car of 2017.
